(COOLLIST) It's About Time!

Well, I'm finally fed up with my procrastination. Here is the long
awaited restart of (COOLLIST).

It is kinda funny. I started out with this just being an alias in
Elm (a UNIX news reader). I collected all my friends' email addresses
into one glob so I could send out interesting things in one lump.
Well, it's become both larger and smaller since then.

The number of subscribers continues to grow. Since I've moved to
Austin, I've added three or four people to the list, and I've also
started a television show based on some ideas that started here and
elsewhere on the 'net.

It has gotten smaller in scope. I used to fill the aliased people's
mailboxes with funny stories copied from alt.shenanigans or
alt.humor.best-of-usenet. Now, almost everything on the list is
either written by me or by a correspondent replying to a list item.

That's fine with me. There are plenty of meta-resources out there
that resend items. The web is full of pointers to things like what
I would have sent out previously. The change has been good.

Oh well, enough thoughts about (CL). Happy 1996. Now to the news.

First, I'm not sending out copies of my first episode. Not yet.
Since it was only 20 minutes long, and since I'll have episode 2 done
by the end of January, I've decided to wait and put both shows on one
tape to distribute. Besides, I'm not too happy with the quality of
episode 1, so I'd rather you all see it in the context of a work in
progress.

I'm putting up notes on episode 2 (the outline and script ideas) on
the CLTV web page tonight. See http://www.yak.net/cltv/ to get an
idea of what is going on.

Second, due to (COOLLIST) TV and my increased participation in the
rec.games.video.classic newsgroup, I've started collecting old Atari
2600 video games. With my old collection sent from home and a few
recent deals, I'm up to 98 unique cartridges with a few duplicates of
some of the common titles. If you have any of these sitting at home
collecting dust, let me know. I'd love to take them off your hands.
:)

Third, I'm looking at returning to Atlanta the weekend of March
1st-4th. I'd probably arrive Thursday night, if the itinaries work
out like they look now. Let me know if this will be a good or bad
time for you, so I can plan appropriately.

Fourth, I had written up a piece about my air travels at the holidays,
but I decided not to run it, because it really doesn't matter much
anymore. Basically, I got delayed in Austin and in St. Louis due to
the weather, arriving in Nashville four hours late. TWA didn't do a
good job keeping my mom and sis informed. The flight back went fine,
and I got to use my laptop at 20,000 feet. That's pretty much it.

I hope you all had great holidays and got to enjoy your families and
friends. For me, I gotta get some sleep.
