(COOLLIST) Three Short Notes
Consider this e-mail a (CL) ping. I don't have time to say much, but
I did want to let everyone know I'm still out here.
I saw _The Craft_ last night in a free preview. Interesting movie
about teen witches. It never mentions Wicca, but I did catch some
phrases and ideas I recognized from my Student Pagan Association
friends (Hi! to Steve and Andrea!) It turned out to be an affirmation
of balance in all things, but it stepped in a bit too many Hollywood
plot elements on the way.
Last Friday I saw _Broken Arrow_. Unrealistic, violent, but
beautiful. John Woo really understands how to use action to talk
about the nature of people. What dialogue is there is fine,
occasionally funny. If you've not seen this, call me, I'll send a
$1.50, and go! :)
Saturday, I climbed Enchanted Rock with two Austin friends. Its a
large granite dome, second only to Stone Mountain. A enchanting
place, and a lot of fun. Several smaller but more vertical peaks near
it provided even more challenge. One lesson: wear sunscreen. I
forgot, and my skin is still slightly red. I'll try to find a few
Snappy pics of it to but online for y'all.
Work, mentoring, and life beckon me on.
