why doesnt an image change in a java applet when it changes on the server?

java buffers images, this is good, it saves bandwidth, but it is also badly documented, so, what you havce to do to get the images to change is call flush() on the Image, then redraw it, but this will throw an exception in some browsers if you flush an image that is on the screen. so, have two images, with the same source url, alternate which is on the screen, call flush on the one not currently onscreen, then call repaint(), and draw the image you just flush()ed.
