Re: (COOLLIST) The Oddness of Infomercials

Read that old CL about getting your bike stolen. Man, I had my dad's bike
up here at school since I lived in the dorms. Texas Tech is like the second
largest campus in the nation if that fact is correct. So a bike comes in
handy although they really don't allow you to ride your bike on sidewalks or
grass or anywhere that isn't the street where the cars show no mercy.

But, I had my dad's bike. It was a Specialized Rock-Hopper. That meant
little to me, I'm not really into bikes. He bought a Cannondale for $800
dollars a few years back, and bought this one for about $75 at a garage sale
or from a friend. So I have this bike, and I don't even like it that much
but I was kinda mad when someone stole the seat off of it. It was one of
those easy adjust seats, and someone easy adjusted it right off the post. So
I rode around on it standing without a seat for a few weeks which was no big
deal when someone decided they wanted the bike as well. Bummer. I too had
a crappy chain - who steals a bike without a seat when there are 50 bikes
lined up next to it?! I guess it was a better bike than I realized.

He let me use his Brown Shwinn 10-Speed that HE rode when he went to Tech
like 25 years ago. It runs great, or it did. And the nice thing was, it
was so old and run down, I didn't even lock it sometimes when I was just
going to be in somewhere and out again. I just wrapped the chain around it
like it was locked up.

Whew, nice bike story.
