(COOLLIST) That's the Sprint!

No, not a misspelling on the subject. Not this time.

I've been following the saga of a long distance telephony company,
Sprint, and their efforts to completely destroy any customer goodwill.
It all started with Sprint's incredibly stupid offer. They were
getting "business" customers through a promotion called "Fridays are
Free". If you signed up for this, you would be charged a $50/month
minimum phone bill but all of your calls on Friday, even
international, would be without additional cost. Well, Sprint's
sellers let anyone join up, and so lots of readers of Telecom Digest
did so, making lots of calls on Friday and few calls the rest of the
week.

Well, Sprint finally realized that they were loosing huge crates of
money on this deal, so earlier this week they sent out notices
requiring proof of business status from their FaF customers. The
notices gave the customers 24 hours of notice. Many received the
notice after the time had run out. Some even had their LD service
complete terminated.

Sprint isn't talking yet. It is turning into a big fiasco. Any goodwill
any of these people had towards the Murphy Brown company is gone now.

Still, its kinda fun to watch the skirmish. Tune into
comp.dcom.telecom for details.
