(COOLLIST) Glorious Sunday
Sometimes I'm just in an up mood. Today seems to be one of those
times.
First, I finally get myself to wake up before noon on a Sunday. I
even go a visit a church I had heard about, and it was a good
experience. The place is the Unity Church of Austin, a
non-demoninational Christian group puts a high priority on tolerance
and diversity. They seem like the Unitarian-Universalists with a
stronger set of axioms as the base of their common beliefs. The
service had a slight new-ageish feel to it, and some of it seemed a
bit shallow, but that might have been due to the guest speaker. I had
heard the group's minister, Linda Pendergrass, on the group's ACTV
show, and her ideas reminded me of Dr. Landiss at the GaTech Wesley
Foundation more that any other person I have heard in Austin. I
probably return next week and I might try to meet some of members
there. I didn't stay after this morning because I wasn't feeling too
hot. It was a touchy-feely service, with hand holding during the
closing prayer and hugs to greet your neighbors, but I don't mind that
too much. :)

That leads to the second good thing about today. Friday, I stayed home
from work due to a bad sinus infection. I went to a doctor yesterday
morning, got antibiotics and decongestants, and feel better today. Not
back to 100%, but a major improvement.
Continuing the good, I got to go up to north Austin and meet a viewer
of my TV show who called me up about some old video games she had.
I ended up not buying them from her, but I did get some feedback. She
thought I was kinda weird until the end of the show where I admitted
I was "geeky", and then she thought I was all right.
A fourth good: dangling my feet in the cold water of the Texas swimming
pool while leaning back staring into a beautiful blue sky. I not swimming
just yet (it might require a System Shock roll!), but I'm anticipating
the start of rational swimming season.
Fifth good: getting more Dragon Dice expansion sets plus a very cool
Tom Servo-bearing "I'm Huge!" t-shirt to wear to next Friday's opening
of MST3K: The Movie. It's playing at the Dobie here in Austin and at
Phipps in Atlanta.
A final good thing: Seeing Austin so vibrant, full of people and life.
I can't step out of my apartment without seeing other people having
fun today. Fun in contagious, see if you can catch it.
BTW, when at Dragon's Lair, the game shop where I got my loot, the
clerk was talking to himself while trying to find the computer entry
for the shirt. He noted, "this should be under M-S-T-3-K." I replied
back, "No, it was under those other shirts over there."
(Deeeep hurting! Deeeep hurting!)
