The so called LAST Mile is the cable that connects the end
user to the telecommunication centre.
It is the line that has been installed an maintained by
national telephone companies.
Even today these telephone lines are being used for internet
data connectivity with reasonable speed and cost. These
lines have been designed for data transmissions and are
shielded
and balanced, so they do not create a risk to existing
radio service.
Optical fibre technology is used when data volume and
high speed requirements are envisaged by larger companies
or
specific applications. This will be an EMC free technology
for the
future, but requires still some investments to bring
fibre cables to the home.
